MBHOH
Well, we’ve been in Luoyang a few days now and already leave tomorrow! So glad that we finally made it here and were able to be around for the Grand Opening of Maria’s Big House of Hope (MBHOH.) As I promised in the earlier post… here’s a few of the photos from the grand opening…
During the opening ceremony, Steve played a couple of great songs, they cut the ribbon, they broke the ground and more…
We went back to MBHOH today to spend some time with the kids which gave me an opportunity to get some more images. I climbed the construction building again and got a neat shot of the building.
We were really aiming to capture the stark contrast of this building (bright blue) and its surroundings (all grey and dull) so I climbed to the top of a 12 story construction building nearby to get some shots of it from above.
We also got truckloads of neat images of the group loving on the kids like this one of Stevey Joy …
Before we left MBHOH, we took a bunch of group shots but also walked on every floor through every room as Steve played the guitar and led worship. It was a really neat time of prayer and Scripture, asking God to bless the people and events held within the building.
Here’s a short clip from our final few minutes spent at MBHOH:
Tomorrow we fly to the earthquake site and I don’t think we’ll have any internet access whatsoever so I’ll be out of touch for a couple of days…I’ll be back with updates soon! Thanks for your prayers –

These photos are amazing! Kingdom work, for sure! Thank you for letting those of us back here be a part of it through prayer! God bless you all and keep you safe!
Oh my goodness, incredible. The video make me tear up! God is doing some amazing things in China!
I just had to say that the last photo posted here, the one of the Chapmans walking hand-in-hand in front of the building, is absolutely breathtaking. Such a beautiful picture on its own, but even more so when you think about the fact that that house stands because of the two of them. They’re so little in the photo against such a huge building but they’ve given such a huge gift.
Safe travels and God bless…
I have to agree with Mary Ellen, I love the pic of them holding hands in front of that building…beautiful! What great shots thanks for sharing!
Wow! The photos are amazing. I, too, cried and sang along with the video. I love the thought of those halls being filled with praise as they were dedicated to the Lord. What an incredible gift to be a part of that.
Thanks for sharing!!! Thanks for the everything that you have done for the Chinese children!!! God bless u!!!
It’s funny that other people feel the same way that I do, but I guess it shouldn’t surprise me. The pictures in general have me tearing up, but the one of SCC and MB is absolutely breathtaking. The bigness of what they have endured this past year, their commitment to each other and their family…..it’s overwhelming. Thank you for taking it. Thank you for sharing it. God bless you and God bless all those Chapmans!
Hello Chapman family and friends: I love all the pics of you guys loving on the kids of MBHOH. I’m sure the residents of MBHOH appreciated it too! God bless you for all you do to make a difference in the lives of the children of China. It looked like a great celebration. What’s nice is that it was a family affair. Take care!
